20 Degrees and Sunny

When Josh and I went outside today, we were pleasantly surprised to find that it wasn't very cold. In fact, I think we even used the word "nice."

It was 20 degrees.

That's when you know you live in North Dakota.

The Beard Hat

This is Josh's beard hat.

We went to a white elephant party last month and a hand-knitted beard hat was one of the gifts. It was so funny! I couldn't stop laughing when people were trying it on. At the end of the night, Josh was very disappointed that we didn't go home with the hat. Since he loved it so much, a friend from church ended up making him one just like it. It made Josh's day- no, his entire year. So now he wears it out and about and attracts awkward stares (which is his favorite part).

And it keeps his beard warm.

One Year

We have been married for a whole year! Time has flown by, but on the other hand it seems like we've been married forever. The past year could not have been happier. A year ago I wouldn't have thought it possible, but I love Josh even more now than I did on our wedding day.

One of our very first dates was a double date to Chuck E. Cheese. We did the whole thing: we played games, won prizes, smelled the wonderful scent of cheap pizza, and took our picture in the little photo booth. On our wedding night, our hotel was right across the street from a Chuck E. Cheese. We decided that it would be hilarious if we got our picture taken there right after being married. So we did. And now we have a little tradition to get our picture taken at Chuck E. Cheese on our anniversary. It's kind of cheesy (haha), but we like it. So when we're 80 years old, gray-haired, and wrinkled, we will be that old couple taking our picture in the Chuck E. Cheese photo booth.

Happy anniversary Josh! I love you!

Sunny Corpus Christi

Last week we drove to Corpus Christi to visit my family and celebrate our first anniversary. Besides visiting family, the best part about the trip was escaping the freezing cold. The weather was perfect!

Our week-long trip included 2 days of straight driving and 5 days of visiting. We had a blast! I've been missing my family, so it was really great to see them after six months. Here are some highlights from our trip:

The beautiful sunset on our drive down. This was before we got bored, tired, and to the point where we only thought of how we can't wait to get out of the stupid car.

Lilo leaning on the headrest between her usual car activities of sleeping and whining.

Holly: She is so grown up since the last time we saw her- and cuter than ever. And yes, there is pen and frosting on her face.

Josie: This was the first time we got to see Josie since she was born in October. She is the sweetest, prettiest baby. I love her smile!

Me, Katie, and Mom making cakepops. Katie was much better at in than I was.

The final product. They tasted really good!

We spent a day in San Marcos shopping at the outlet malls. Holly and I are taking a break and lounging by the fountain.

This is a picture of us in five years.....just kidding. Josh, Josie, Me, and Holly at the outlet mall.

Our anniversary! We had lunch at Water Street where we held our wedding reception. Unfortunately, it was a huge letdown. The food was amazing at our reception, but this weekend it was basically the worst food ever. I still don't know if we were more disappointed that we were served crappy food or that we payed a fortune for it.

Our last day in Corpus. Josh, Me, Holly, Katie, Andrew, and Josie.

We had so much fun on our trip and were sad to leave. It was a great visit filled with family, friends and good weather- three things which I will miss dearly.

Holiday Recap

From Christmas through this past weekend, we have been crazy busy. Here is what we've been up to:

We spent Christmas weekend with Josh's family in Minneapolis. We had a good time. Between playing Kinect, Killer Bunnies and singing karaoke, there was never a dull moment. We spent most of our time visiting family- with parents, grandparents, and dozens of aunts, uncles, and cousins, we kept pretty busy. But we did find time to go to Ikea, which is always a must when we're in the cities. Lucky for me, Josh likes Ikea almost as much as I do.

We spent New Years.......snowed in. We had been planning a big New Years Eve party for weeks, but the snowstorm of the year just happened to be the same day. The weather was so bad that we ended up having to cancel the party altogether. So instead we played games by ourselves and ate some of the 2 dozen cupcakes I had made. It was slightly uneventful but we had fun. Practically all of Fargo was shut down for the rest of the weekend.

Last week we spent some time in Corpus Christi with my family. We got back really early yesterday morning and are still recovering from the drive. I'll post more about our trip later.

So as you can tell, we've been a bit busy lately. But we had a really fun holiday season!

My sweet (literally) New Years cupcakes. I was really excited to make them and then no one even got to see them (except us)!
